Sila National Park – enjoy some of the most romantic sceneries of Calabria
Located along the sunny shores of both the Tyrrhenian and the Ionian Seas, the Sila National Park is a popular tourist destination in Italy. The park offers some of the most romantic and picturesque sceneries in the region of Calabria. From the park, one can look out to sea and get a glimpse of the Aeolian Islands which dominate the offshore waters.
Located throughout the park, there are a number of tourist villages that have been built over the years to house the countless tourists that make their way to the area every year. There are several mountain peaks located within the Sila National Park borders. These peaks include the towering Mount Botte Donato that rises up to 1,928 meters above sea level. There is also the 1,764 meter tall Mount Gariglione that can be found in the area. Several rivers rage from the upper valleys between the two peaks down to the Tyrrhenian and the Ionian Seas. There are also a number of artificial lakes that have been built throughout the park over the years.
The park is home to many animal and plant species. While the Sila National Park has not been dedicated to any particular endangered species, it is still nonetheless an amazing place to visit virtually any time of the year. People who make their way to the area during the summer months like to hike their way through the many trails that meander their way through the park. In the winter time, a visitor to the region can also take pleasure in doing some skiing along the slopes of the mountains.

Park authorities offer a number of excellent guided tours throughout the park. You can enjoy seeing the sites on horseback, foot or even by mountain bike.
