The best family destinations in Italy
Italy is a beautiful country, full of wonderful people, amazing food and lots of culture to get immersed in. Children will love Italy– so it’s definitely somewhere to take the family and enjoy together as a group. It’s a wonderful place to make all those memories you’ll treasure always!
It can be difficult knowing just where to go though, after all – if you’ve never visited a country before it can be hard to know just where to find the best locations that not only welcome families, but are suitable for families too. You need to think about the activities on offer, the climate, the terrain and the culture there too. For examples – you wouldn’t want to take children to an adults only beach resort!

So here’s my list of great places for families
Rome
If you have small children this may not be the most ideal – but for older families (with children aged 7+) this is a great vacation spot. The city is seeped in history and exciting places to see and experience, it’s also pretty easy to eat here on a family-budget. There are many pizzerias and ice-creams restaurants which any child would adore to eat in – and many are affordable, which often makes the holiday more enjoyable. You’ll definitely want to equip the kids with a tour book that they can keep with them – as there are so many attractions and historic sites in Rome that half the fun is figuring out where the next one will be! In the summer time, make sure you take sun cream though – as it can get pretty hot and sticky!
Naples
Naples is a great location for those who want to enjoy some historic sites, and some gorgeous beaches too. Naples is a bit further south than Rome so during the summer you’ll want to have sun cream and hats on the children during the main daytime hours. Older children will love learning about the volcano and the cities history too!

Pisa
Kids will love the novelty of Pisa, so if you can make time for a quick day trip there – you certainly won’t regret it! Enjoy seeing the tower, enjoy the great food around the tower, and then enjoy taking lots of cheesy tourist photographs too! There isn’t much else to do here, which is why we’re recommending only visiting for a day – but it’s a fun day out certainly!
