Chioggia (small Venice)
Chioggia called also small Venice is a small penisula between Laguna Veneta and river Po, near to Venice. The city center is situated on a islands group through canals an bridges. Chioggia lools like Venice, but small different also because in Chioggia you can see cars and public transport. The rest of the city is situated hinterland and includes foci of river Brenta and Adige with many others minor rivers and canals. Important is the Natural Reserve of Bosco Nordio that is a rare exemple of bush coast.
History
Legend of Chioggia is connected with Enea , hero escaped from destruction of Troia that sailed the Mediterranean sea to reach the Laguna Veneta. Infact the symbol of Chioggia is a red rampant lion on silver. Age of the city is about 2000 B.C. and the name Chioggia derived from Cluza: artificially constructed.
