Castelfranco di Sopra – a small town at the slopes of the Pratomagno mountain
Castelfranco di Sopra is a small town situated in the east of the Tuscan region, at the slopes of the low mountains of Pratomagno and a nature reserve. Due to its location on a hillside above the valley of the Arno River, 280 meters above sea level, it offers a nice view of the surrounding countryside.
Rolling hills and deep forests, olive groves and vast vineyards are charming in its simplicity. Fairytale landscape also hides a lot of historical treasures, mostly Romanesque parish churches and farmhouses.

Castelfranco di Sopra was originally called “Terra Murata” and its history dates back to the 13th century. For its strategic position, the place was a scene of frequent battles in the past. One of the most important buildings, the local town hall Palazzo del Municipio, dates from the 14th century as well as the city walls.
The town is located just 50 kilometers from the famous city of Florence and 60 kilometers from Siena, and is therefore a great place if you want to explore these cities, while on your holidays in Tuscany.
